About Equal Opportunity Facilitation Cell (EOFC)
The Equal Opportunity Facilitation Cell (EOFC) shall function as the nodal institutional body responsible for facilitating equal opportunity, accessibility, inclusion and appropriate support for students with disabilities. The Cell shall work in coordination with academic departments, the Examination Cell, Library, Hostel Administration, Information Technology Cell, Placement Cell and other relevant institutional units.
To create an inclusive, accessible, equitable and barrier-free higher education environment in which students with disabilities have equal opportunities to learn, participate, develop their potential and achieve their academic, personal and professional aspirations with dignity, independence and confidence.
The Equal Opportunity Facilitation Cell (EOFC) is committed to:
- Promoting equal opportunity and non-discrimination for students with disabilities.
- Facilitating accessible and inclusive education through appropriate academic, technological and infrastructural support.
- Creating awareness among students, faculty and staff about disability rights, accessibility, inclusion and sensitivity.
Objectives:
The objectives of the Equal Opportunity Facilitation Cell are to:
- Ensure that students with disabilities receive equal access to admission, education, examinations, research, campus facilities and institutional activities.
- Facilitate an educational environment in which students with disabilities can participate fully alongside other students.
- Provide or facilitate accessible study materials, assistive technologies, academic assistance and other support necessary for effective learning.
- Facilitate permissible examination accommodations such as scribes, compensatory/additional time, accessible question papers and assistive technology.
- Promote a safe environment free from discrimination, bullying, harassment, exclusion and victimization on the grounds of disability.
- Encourage and facilitate the participation of students with disabilities in cultural, sports, social, extracurricular, leadership and student-development activities.
- Establish an accessible mechanism through which students can report barriers, discrimination or difficulties in obtaining reasonable accommodation.
- Obtain regular feedback from students with disabilities regarding the effectiveness and adequacy of institutional support services.
