About the Department:

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is one of the oldest and major departments of the Institute. Since its inception in 1998, the department has been actively engaged in teaching and research in diverse fields of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. All its academic programmes are approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The department is academically strong, featuring faculty members who hold Ph.D. degrees and possess extensive expertise across various domains.
The department offers both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The undergraduate B.Tech program commenced in 1998 with an initial intake of 40 students, which was subsequently increased to 120 in the year 2012. At the postgraduate level, the M.Tech in Power Electronics & Drives (PE & D) program was launched in 2011 with an intake of 18 students, and its current enrollment stands at 6 students.
To align with modern industry demands, the M.Tech in Power Electronics & Drives is officially transitioning into a new M.Tech in Electric Vehicle Technology starting in 2026 with a intake of 6. The curriculum is specifically designed to prepare students for the rapidly growing clean transportation sector. The department maintains adequate and well-qualified faculty spanning all major areas of Electrical Engineering, including Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electric Vehicle Technologies, Control Systems, Internet of Things (IoT), Energy Systems, and High Voltage Engineering etc.
