Green Energy Technology Centre

The energy, in the renewable form, has gained considerable importance in the globalised world. The Lakireddy Bali Reddy College of Engineering does not like to fall behind in its attempts to conserve energy and to search for alternate forms of energy.

The chairman Er. Lakireddy Bali Reddy took special interest to see that a center for Green(clean) Energy Technology (GETC) emerges in the campus.

On 5th of October 2010, GETC was inaugurated by Dr.M.Ramamoorty, Former Director General of CPRI, Former Director General of ERDA, Baroda, chief of research of Hindustan Brown Boveri(HBB) and now a consultant to reputed industrial organizations. The center is presently focusing attention on three areas-solar power for mass applications, wind power as a source of co-generation to power grids and energy from biomass for possible use as vehicular fuel. Besides these, the center has drawn up plans, as part of its energy conservation programme, to replace the campus street lights with LED luminaries. The students are actively involved in realization of the programs of the center under a scheme of in-house projects financed by the institute. At present, (October 2010) the following in-house projects are being persued

  • Solar street lights

  • Study of replacement of municipal street lights by LEDs at optimum cost

  • Studies on wind energy for co-generation
  •
